all kinds and most of them worked until the early 1980s. The heart of Corfu’s industrial activity was Mantouki, an old traditional and labor district. Located by both the harbor and the Old Town of Corfu, its location was ideal for trade, as it made it easy for the industries to import raw materials and export their products. The industrial workers of Corfu built their houses all around the district of Mantouki, creating this architecturally magical suburb where one can find LOC Hospitality’s Mantouki Port Suites and Urban Studio. A purely working quarter, where the circumstances and the stubbornness of its inhabitants did not allow the modernization nor any alteration of its architectural character. On the contrary, it is a living monument of Corfiot modern history.
